Christine (Chris) oversees office administration and is the primary administrative contact for UBC Extended Learning (ExL). She provides executive-level support for the Associate Provost, Teaching and Learning and the ExL Executive Director, and liaises with a broad range of UBC units, Faculties and departments. In addition to assisting the ExL Management Team, Chris ensures the office runs smoothly, helps coordinate the monthly staff newsletter, and assists with the onboarding and offboarding of staff. She brings 20 years’ experience working in a number of UBC Faculties, offices and schools to her role. Chris is covering for Jamie Ma who is on leave.
David provides administrative and student support for UBC Extended Learning’s (ExL) university preparation and community programs. He helps process admissions, registration and financial transactions for these programs, and liaises with other ExL teams and groups in the community. With more than 20 years of experience as an administrative professional in Canada and the UK, David is passionate about education and ensuring that Canadian and international students have a positive, rewarding experience at UBC.
Josefina supports new Extended Learning (ExL) and Vice-President Academic Office programming initiatives as part of Academic Services Learning Technology, Learning Design, and Media development team. She provides expertise in online learning, learning design and technologies, and media development for new ExL and non-degree UBC Faculty programming, from ideation and instructional design, to production and delivery.
With more than 10 years’ experience in educational technology and online learning, Josefina’s approach to learning design emphasizes accessibility, responsiveness, universal design for learning, and learner engagement.
Josefina sits on the Canvas Catalog Administrators Group and supports the management of the ExL Learning Design & Learning Technology, and ExL DIY Media communities.
As a member of the UBC Extended Learning (ExL) marketing team and the Program Development Advisory Committee, Tracey develops evidence-based, integrated marketing strategies that drive enrolment for all ExL programs, and for UBC faculties’ career and professional education programs.
With more than 20 years’ experience in branding and marketing, Tracey brings a passion for creating and communicating unique stories that enhance the student experience at every touchpoint along their journey.
Joanne is involved with developing and delivering a wide range of arts, humanities and science courses at UBC Extended Learning (ExL). The programs in her portfolio include UBC Elder Scholar, One Day @ UBC and One Week @ UBC. In addition to liaising with UBC faculty to deliver short-term programs, Joanne recruits and orients instructors, supervises student assistants and assists with preparing promotional materials. Joanne brings more than 30 years’ experience in post-secondary client service and program administration to her role.
Matthew (Matt) is responsible for course and curriculum design and development, and evening weekend and online programming for UBC Extended Learning Languages, Professional Writing and Communications and English Communication Skills courses and programs. He also manages summer institutes in French, Spanish and American Sign Language (ASL), and supervises and mentors more than 50 instructors. Matt is fluent in Spanish and French, and represents ExL at the Centre de la Francophonie de UBC. A published fiction author, Matt’s background includes 12 years’ experience in adult education, a master’s in French literature, a bachelor’s in linguistics and basic skills in ASL.
Aika develops and implements UBCx, open learning and non-degree initiatives, including MOOCs (massive open online courses), professional certificates, micro-bachelors and micro-masters. Working in partnership with UBC faculties, she delivers online programming that promotes UBC excellence to the local and international communities.
She conducts market research and needs assessments, and consults stakeholders to design, develop, maintain and evaluate programs to attract new learners. As a member of the Academic Services team, Aika improves learning through online learning management systems and virtual technologies. She also helps administer funding call initiatives, including the Continuous Learning Advancement Fund (CLAF).
Patricia plans, implements and evaluates integrated marketing campaigns for UBC Extended Learning University Preparation, Graduate Studies Preparation and Community Programs. She also collaborates with the UBC Faculty of Medicine and Peter A. Allard School of Law, as well as Blockchain@UBC, to deliver professional development programs. Patricia contributes to strategic planning, creates communications plans, assesses campaign performance, and applies insights from analytics to future marketing cycles.
Her long and varied career includes management positions in the financial, telecom, government, not-for-profit, retail and education sectors, and at advertising agencies. She has mentored for the Women in Leadership Foundation, has won several awards for her work in university continuing education, and has presented at higher education industry conferences.
Kate is part of the Extended Learning (ExL) Academic Services team, an agile incubator for new programming. She supports new program development both within ExL and across the university, overseeing program research, design and strategy, and providing market insights and design recommendations for program success and sustainability.
A member of the ExL Program Development Advisory Committee and the Vice-President Academic and Provost’s New Programs Hub, Kate works with program directors, faculty and a variety of UBC central services to lead new educational initiatives and develop innovative, academically rigorous, learner-centric programming.
In her role at UBC Extended Learning (ExL), Doina turns data into actionable insights that inform marketing and business objectives. Her work encompasses business intelligence and data governance, digital insights and analytics, and digital marketing. Doina provides strategic direction for data collection, measurement, processing and reporting in collaboration with ExL marketing and program teams, UBC Web Services and external vendors.
Committed to her continuous learning and personal growth, Doina has completed the UBC Award of Achievement in Digital Analytics and the Certificate Program in Web Intelligence from UC Davis. She’s also working toward the Certificate in Business Intelligence & Data Warehousing at UCI. Doina is part of the ExL Data Governance working group, and is a professional member of the Digital Analytics Association (DAA). She’s the recipient of several higher education marketing awards.
Conchita is a member of the student services team at UBC Extended Learning (ExL). Learners of all ages rely on Conchita and the team to help them choose the most appropriate program or course based on their unique needs and goals. Her experience working with the programs at ExL also allows her to contribute to course creation, planning, organizing and information sharing. Conchita is committed to providing exceptional advisory services that help people become successful lifelong learners.
