This is the final project for the UBC Certificate in Spanish, Practical and Business. This module consists of a final written project and oral presentation. Students are expected to present a proposal and outline, conduct their research and submit a draft. Upon approval of the written project, students will make an oral presentation followed by a question period.
Speak and hear Spanish from the first day as you quickly gain basic conversation skills to communicate information about yourself, your family and friends, your work, and your daily life. Learn pronunciation, expressions, and vocabulary that allow you to function in everyday settings.
Add to your base of Spanish vocabulary and expressions to communicate in everyday situations involving travel, food, shopping, family and business. Continue to improve your pronunciation and express preferences. Practise your new Spanish skills and interact with your classmates in a comfortable atmosphere.
Focus on using Spanish in authentic real-life situations. Continue to expand your vocabulary, and start to elevate your level of language by learning more complex structures with a communication goal in mind. Concentrate on speaking correctly, and distinguishing between the past, present, and future tenses. Begin to learn about nuances of Spanish, including correct levels of language to use in various situations.
Focus on improving your conversational Spanish fluency by acquiring more complex grammatical structures and sentence formation. Grammar topics may include the advanced level verb tenses (conditional, future anterior, and introduction to subjunctive), or use of relative pronouns.
