Manager, Applicant and Student Services, Vancouver Summer Program
He, Him, His
Jonas To is an integral part of the Vancouver Summer Program (VSP) team, facilitating enriching experiences for international students in Canadian education and culture. Jonas oversees the day to day logistics of VSP which include managing applications, facilitating academics, planning activities and other duties related to the student experience.
Collaborating within UBC, Jonas liaises with faculties and departments offering course packages for VSP, while also engaging with partner institutions worldwide to bring students to UBC in the summer. Passionate about fostering global citizenship, Jonas is dedicated to creating impactful educational experiences for international students.

Mark Wisniewski
Senior Program Coordinator, University Preparation and Community Programs
He, Him, His
Mark coordinates the development and delivery of online and on-campus courses for UBC Future Global Leaders. Mark’s background in international education includes teaching and developing courses for secondary school to pre-graduate level students. His graduate degree in Asian studies and a certificate in intercultural studies, along with extensive travel throughout Asia and published writing on international culture, all contribute and inform his work with students around the world. Mark is always looking for ways to improve programs to benefit staff and learners alike.

Kayla Wong
Senior Financial Specialist
Kayla is a member of the UBC Finance team that supports Extended Learning. She plays a crucial role in providing financial processing support for various UBC ExL units. Her responsibilities encompass Career and Professional Programs (CPP), Centre for Equitable Systems Design (CESD), and Marketing. Kayla collaborates closely with program coordinators to ensure prompt delivery of payments and financial transactions. Additionally, she actively assists the program director and senior managers in budget planning, reconciling, and updating budget forecasts. In addition to her involvement with CPP, CESD, and Marketing unit, Kayla also provides financial processing support to the Centre for Teaching, Learning, and Technology (CTLT).

Emily Wu
Program Leader, Career and Professional Programs
She, Her, Hers
Emily manages the design, development and delivery of Extended Learning (ExL)’s professional programs. She works closely with ExL teams, UBC Faculty and external partners to create policies, systems and organizational practices that support the delivery of programs including data science, cloud computing, extended reality, Python and Indigenous health. Emily brings more than 15 years’ experience in program management and educational technology to her role. She’s committed to advancing flexible and innovative teaching and learning practices that are accessible to adult learners, and support them in their career and professional transitions. A certified professional coach, Emily is a member of Coaching at UBC, a program that offers one-on-one and group coaching services to Faculty and staff.

Web Specialist
He, Him, His
As a member of the Extended Learning (ExL) marketing team, Joseph develops and maintains the content and infrastructure of the ExL website. He works with ExL contributors, IT staff and UBC Web Services to keep the site up-to-date, monitor site health, and identify and troubleshoot issues. Solutions-driven and creative, Joseph brings four years of front-end development and responsive design experience to his role, and is always keen to learn more.

As a member of the Vancouver Summer Program (VSP) Central team, Whitney coordinates student admission, registration, onboarding, event delivery and administrative support. In her role, Whitney collaborates closely with team members and faculty coordinators across UBC to ensure an enriching experience for students.
With a robust professional background in higher education, Whitney has held multiple roles at top-ranking universities in China, Australia, and Canada. Passionate about facilitating future studies, Whitney's commitment to empowering students globally towards academic success is unwavering.

Senior Program Assistant

Ricky is a Senior Program Assistant at UBC Extended Learning. They support the delivery of online and in-person programs, primarily in Technology and Health and Medicine, ensuring a smooth experience for both learners and instructors. Ricky works closely with ExL program teams to respond to inquiries and provide administrative coordination across Career and Professional Programs. With a background in linguistics, language teaching, and a passion for life long learning they bring a people-focused, collaborative approach to their work. Outside of ExL, Ricky is an award-winning translator and columnist, and is engaged in Cantonese research and community advocacy.

Cherry (Zhuoying) Yu
Program Coordinator, Centre for Equitable Systems Design
She, Her, Hers
In her role, Cherry supports the development, planning and delivery of the intercultural, equity, diversity, and inclusion certificates and micro-credential courses and programs. Cherry liaises with different stakeholders in the CESD community and provides support for facilitators, moderators, course participants and alumni, striving to optimize the learning experience for both individuals and organizations. Her work also includes coordinating the building and strengthening of industry partnerships and relationships within the Equitable Systems Design program.
Cherry’s background has laid a solid foundation for her work at UBC, as have her studies and government and organizational work in China, France and Switzerland. Fluent in English, Cantonese, Mandarin and French, Cherry is a lifelong learner who loves to contribute to building diverse and inclusive programs for adults.

Maggie develops and implements digital marketing strategies for a range of Extended Learning (ExL) programs in collaboration with the Manager, Digital Marketing and program marketing managers. She creates, manages and optimizes paid digital marketing campaigns as well as organic social media posts.
Maggie brings more than seven years’ experience in digital and pay-per-click marketing for the private, public and higher education sectors. With an eye to creating engaging and enjoyable digital experiences, Maggie’s goal is to help students reach their lifelong learning goals.
