  4. Business + Higher Education Roundtable and UBC Extended Learning Partner to Expand Equitable Systems Design Work-Integrated Learning Opportunities

    UBC Extended Learning is pleased to announce a new partnership with The Business + Higher Education Roundtable (BHER) that will expand experiential learning opportunities through the Centre for Equitable Systems Design (CESD) Associateship in Equitable Systems Design. The collaboration will provide graduates of EDI programs with meaningful opportunities to apply equitable systems design principles in real organizational contexts.In partnership with the Business + Higher Education Roundtable, and with support from the Government of Canada, this initiative supports UBC’s CESD Associateship Program by funding the creation of work-integrated learning (WIL) opportunities for participants. Since 2015, BHER has connected, convened, and leveraged the power of its members to create opportunities for post-secondary students and workers, boost innovation, and drive collaboration. BHER is the only organization in Canada that brings together the country’s top companies and leading post-secondary institutions to address skills, talent, and economic challenges.   “Increasingly, organizations are looking for practical ways to translate equity and systems thinking into real change,” said Joenita Paulrajan, Director of CESD. “This partnership with BHER allows our Associates to apply their learning directly within organizations while contributing to meaningful systems transformation.”The CESD Associateship in Equitable Systems Design prepares professionals to apply equitable systems design approaches in workplaces, communities, and institutions. Participants develop advanced skills in systemic analysis, inclusive leadership, and organizational change while collaborating with peers and partners on applied projects.“Work-integrated learning (WIL) transforms how young people prepare for the future of work, and provides businesses with the talent they need to thrive.     Ricky is a Senior Program Assistant at UBC Extended Learning. They support the delivery of online and in-person programs, primarily in Technology and Health and Medicine, ensuring a smooth experience for both learners and instructors. Ricky works closely with ExL program teams to respond to inquiries and provide administrative coordination across Career and Professional Programs. With a background in linguistics, language teaching, and a passion for life long learning they bring a people-focused, collaborative approach to their work. Outside of ExL, Ricky is an award-winning translator and columnist, and is engaged in Cantonese research and community advocacy.
