    Course

    Learn how to apply the fundamental rules of writing to produce text that is not only correct, but also coherent, emphatic and elegant. Practise revising text by analyzing and diagnosing common problems. Topics include clarity in complexity, balance and symmetry, and nuances of sentence length and rhythm. This course can be taken as part of the UBC Micro-certificate in Writing and Communication Skills for the Workplace: Grammar and Style or as a standalone course.

    Course

    Arabic Beginner 1 is designed to help you gain basic communicative ability in Levantine (Syrian) Arabic, a dialect spoken in Syria that has a close relationship to many neighbouring Arabic varieties. You will also learn to read and write the beautiful Arabic alphabet.

Jennifer collaborates with various faculties and on-campus stakeholders to provide students with unique opportunities while they are in the VSP. With a background in marketing, finance, and international relations across the Asia Pacific region, Jennifer is adept at identifying new opportunities and markets. Committed to professional growth, she aims to expand her industry expertise by working with partner universities and faculties to explore new opportunities for program development, while also engaging in volunteer work.

    Jonas To is an integral part of the Vancouver Summer Program (VSP) team, facilitating enriching experiences for international students in Canadian education and culture. Jonas oversees the day to day logistics of VSP which include managing applications, facilitating academics, planning activities and other duties related to the student experience. Collaborating within UBC, Jonas liaises with faculties and departments offering course packages for VSP, while also engaging with partner institutions worldwide to bring students to UBC in the summer. Passionate about fostering global citizenship, Jonas is dedicated to creating impactful educational experiences for international students.
