    Course

    How can equitable systems design transform your workplace and the industry you work in? How can we (re)design systems and sectors that impact not only workplaces and individuals but also industries, sectors and society? Spanning specific workplace to industry-wide EDI challenges, your first (of two) courses in the UBC Micro-certificate in Equitable Systems Design (ESD) is a participatory experience leading to the creation of equitable solutions through a series of equity-centered design challenges, frameworks and strategies focused on systemic-change within your industry.

    Thousands of Canadians belong to the DeafBlind community. While many community members use American Sign Language (ASL) to communicate, there is an increasing prioritization of touch-based communication to better suit the community’s needs. Learning how to incorporate touch as a core linguistic and cultural feature is a key step in getting to know and understand the DeafBlind community.
