While many community members use American Sign Language (ASL) to communicate, there is an increasing prioritization of touch-based communication to better suit the community’s needs. Learning how to incorporate touch as a core linguistic and cultural feature is a key step in getting to know and understand the DeafBlind community.

The Department of Political Science at the University of British Columbia (UBC), in collaboration with UBC Extended Learning, is developing a new professional micro-certificate focused on the practice of attitudinal survey research, also known as opinion polling. The program will be targeted at skill acquisition, and students will receive a practical, experiential education about every aspect of the survey research process.
