Ethical Hacking Certification Training

The Ethical Hacking Certification Training program provides learners with a greater understanding of the ins and outs of ethical hacking, including footprinting and reconnaissance, scanning networks, vulnerability analysis and concepts around cryptography.  

Learners explore system hacking, malware threats, sniffing, social engineering, denial-of-service, session hijacking, evading IDS, firewalls and honeypots, and everything from hacking web servers, wireless networks and mobile platforms to SQL injection, IoT and OT hacking.

By the end of the program, you'll be able to:

• Assess ethical and legal requirements of security assessment and penetration testing and determine a strategy to comply with these requirements. 
• Analyze different phases of hacking and recommend the strategy to use ethical hacking for assessing the security of various components of an information system. 
• Compare and contrast different hacking techniques and analyze the legal implications of hacking.
• Differentiate between risks, threats and vulnerabilities.
• Examine different vulnerabilities, threats and attacks to information systems and recommend counter measures.
• Analyze cryptography algorithms and encryption techniques, and design implementation strategies for securing information.
• Compare and contrast various network security assessment and hacking tools.
• Assess various network security techniques and tools and implement appropriate information security controls based on evidence, information and research.
• Utilize tools to conduct analysis, identify risks, threats and vulnerabilities and recommend measures to strengthen the security of individuals and organizations.
• Be prepared to take the Certified Ethical Hacker certification exam.

This program is designed for IT security and technology professionals who need to understand and manage cybersecurity risks and are interested in becoming a Certified Ethical Hacker. The curriculum focuses on testing systems and exploring their use in ways not originally intended. Before attempting to hack these systems, students are expected to understand their basic functions.  

While there are no prerequisites to this program, if you have less than two years of IT security experience you may consider completing UBC Micro-certificate in Cloud Security and Cyber Attack Prevention Methods to better prepare you for this program. 

The total cost of the program is $3,200 and includes a practice exam voucher and an exam voucher to take the certification exam to become a Certified Ethical Hacker. Register four weeks before the course start date and save $205.

The program consists of one course of 16 weeks. The course takes approximately 112 hours to complete. 

Once completed, the Ethical Hacking Certification Training program can be applied towards the 190-hour vendor-agnostic UBC Cloud and Technology Transformation Certificate program. 

Required Course

This part-time 100% online program is instructor supported with weekly 1.5-hour real-time classes combined with independent study. Real-time classes are recorded in case you miss one. 

Outside of class, this rigorous course gives you access to weekly live sessions with an instructor, EC-Council’s course materials, online labs, and a practice exam for the Certified Ethical Hacker certification.

Students are expected to contribute to a discussion forum and participate in interactive activities with peers and course instructor.
