UBC Certificate
- $1,118 to $2,118
Neuroscience is increasingly shaping how we understand health, learning, technology and human behaviour, yet access to neuroscience training outside traditional university degree programs remains limited. As demand for neuroscience knowledge grows across sectors, there is increasing need for accessible learning that builds understanding of brain science and its relevance to one’s everyday life.
The UBC Certificate in Essentials of Neuroscience is a part-time, online program that provides a broad introduction to core neuroscience concepts and their real-world applications. By completing two stackable micro-certificates, you develop the knowledge and confidence to connect neuroscience principles to your work, interests and future learning goals.
Developed by the UBC Undergraduate Program in Neuroscience and UBC Extended Learning, this certificate combines stories from neurodiverse individuals with neuroscientific foundations and applied examples. Together, the two micro-certificates offer a structured pathway to deepen your understanding of neuroscience and its connections to health, behaviour and society.
- Who it’s for: Professionals in healthcare, technology, education, research and other fields that could benefit from neuroscience training, as well as individuals seeking accessible, applied neuroscience learning for personal interest or professional development.
- Format: 100% online, available either in a self-paced format or instructor supported format with real-time discussion sessions.
- Duration: Two micro-certificates that will collectively take about 170 hours to complete. In the self-paced format, you can take up to six months to complete each micro-certificate. In the instructor supported format, each micro-certificate runs for 11 weeks.
- Cost: $1,118 for the self-paced format or $2,118 for the instructor supported format
- Next offering: Winter 2027
