UBC Micro-certificate
Across Canada and around the world, populations are aging, and the demand for person‑centred, age‑inclusive care is growing faster than many health and community systems can respond. Many allied health professionals and community‑based staff are expected to address age‑related changes every day, yet have limited access to applied, cross‑disciplinary training in healthy aging and seniors care.
The UBC Micro-certificate in Healthy Aging is a part‑time, online program that helps you build practical, holistic skills to better support people in aging populations in care and community settings. You explore ageism, socio‑cultural influences on aging, geroscience, lifestyle and behavioural factors and communication strategies so you can make more informed, equitable decisions in your work.
Developed in partnership with the Edwin S.H. Leong Centre for Healthy Aging and instructors from medicine, kinesiology, audiology, nutrition and occupational science, this micro-certificate connects you with leading expertise across diverse areas of aging research and practice. You gain tools you can apply immediately in your role, close gaps in person‑centred, age‑inclusive care and prepare for future opportunities in health, community and seniors‑focused services
