UBC Micro-certificate
- Online
- $2,000
Across Canada and around the world, populations are aging, and the demand for person centred, age inclusive care is growing faster than many health and community systems can respond. Many allied health professionals and community based staff are expected to address age related changes every day, yet have limited access to applied, cross disciplinary training in healthy aging and seniors care that reflects their commitment to high quality, person centred support.
The UBC Micro-certificate in Healthy Aging is a part time, online program that helps you build practical, evidence based skills to support healthy aging in health and community settings. You explore geroscience, ageism, socio cultural influences on aging, lifestyle and behavioural interventions and communication strategies so you can feel more confident making informed, equitable decisions in your everyday life that improve experiences and outcomes for the people you work with.
Developed in partnership with the Edwin S.H. Leong Centre for Healthy Aging and faculty experts in medicine, kinesiology, audiology, speech pathology, nutrition and occupational science, this micro-certificate connects you with leading research and real world experience across diverse areas of aging. You gain immediately applicable skills that enhance your current role, help you advocate for more age inclusive policies and programs and prepare you for growing career opportunities in seniors care and healthy aging.
