This mini school is part of the UBC Future Global Leaders on-campus program for high school students ages 15–18. It is offered by the Peter A. Allard School of Law.
This mini school gives you an exciting, hands-on introduction to what it means to study, practice and think like a lawyer. Explore how legal professionals interpret the law to shape everyday life, resolve disputes, protect rights and help build a fair and just society.
But this isn't just classroom learning. In this mini law school, you:
- Analyze real cases and explore how lawyers build arguments and solve complex problems
- Participate in exercises, negotiations and debates
- Develop the skills lawyers use every day, including critical thinking, advocacy, public speaking and persuasive communication
You also:
- Learn directly from Allard Law faculty and graduate law students, and alumni who are practicing lawyers
- Study at the Peter A. Allard School of Law and experience a snapshot of what law school is really like
- Explore career paths in law
- Access information on university preparation, law school admissions, and legal careers
Lawyers do much more than appear in court. They negotiate agreements, advise businesses, advocate for individuals, shape public policy, protect rights and help solve society's most challenging problems. Whether working in criminal law, business law, environmental law, human rights or technology, lawyers play an important role in helping people navigate an increasingly complex world.
Curious about a career in law, politics, public policy and more? This mini school is your opportunity to discover the many paths that legal education can open, and to learn how to begin thinking like a lawyer.
This mini school is offered by the Peter A. Allard School of Law, one of the leading law schools in Canada.
