If you would like to withdraw from a course, please submit written notice at least three business days before the course begins to be eligible for a refund (less a $50 administration fee). Registration fees of $50 or less are non-refundable unless a course is cancelled by UBC Extended Learning. No refund will be made for cancellations received later than three business days before the course begins. Some exceptions to this policy apply (see below).
UBC Extended Learning is sometimes forced to cancel courses due to insufficient enrolment or other reasons. If this occurs, a full refund is processed and sent to you automatically.
Certificate, Award of Achievement, International Programs, and Future Global Leaders
Special withdrawal and cancellation policies apply to UBC Extended Learning certificate, award of achievement, international programs, and Future Global Leaders as well as courses within these programs. Application fees are non-refundable. Please see the program page for any specific details.
Summer Institutes
The withdrawal deadline for summer institutes is seven business days prior to the start date. A $100 administration fee is deducted from each refund. No refunds will be given for written notices received less than seven business days prior to the start date.
Writing and Math
Special withdrawal and cancellation policies apply to Writing 098, Writing 099, and Math courses. Please contact us for details.
Course Transfers
Transferring from one course to another or changing from one course to another offering of the same course within three business days of the course start date is considered a withdrawal and a new registration. The $50 administration fee for withdrawals will be charged for the transfer or change.
