The certificate program consists of six courses total. Four courses are required, and the final two courses are determined by which of the learning pathway options you choose.
Learners who have already completed the existing UBC Micro-certificate in Cloud Transformation and Technology Infrastructure Strategy and the UBC Micro-certificate in AI Cloud Solutions Strategy can use those credentials to ladder into this certificate.
Cloud Transformation Strategy (Required Course) – 4 weeks:
Included in the UBC Micro-certificate in Cloud Transformation and Technology Infrastructure Strategy
This course provides the strategic knowledge to design an impactful way to the planning and implementation of a cloud technology infrastructure strategy. Learn to pitch your high-level cloud transformation strategy to leadership and stakeholders, and how to make critical decisions about cost, scale, information security, risk management, compliance and regulatory implications.
Cloud Technology Infrastructure Strategy (Required Course) – 4 weeks:
Included in the UBC Micro-certificate in Cloud Transformation and Technology Infrastructure Strategy
Come away with an understanding of cloud versus on-site technologies, focusing on servers, networks, storage and implication patterns, and learn what to consider when choosing and deploying cloud technology infrastructure. Develop strategies to bridge the needs of product and technical stakeholders, gain the knowledge to create a secure operating environment and design a cloud adoption strategy and a unique technology transformation roadmap for your organization.
Fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence Cloud Strategy (Required Course) – 4 weeks:
Included in the UBC Micro-certificate in Artificial Intelligence Cloud Solutions Strategy
Begin with the fundamentals of AI in cloud computing and gain the ability to assess and use ready-made, purpose-built AI cloud services, or your own models with cloud machine learning (ML) services, based on your organization’s AI and automation needs. Learn how to design an AI cloud solution strategy to enhance customer experience, improve business processes and accelerate innovation, and create an adoption plan to gain the support you need along every stage of the AI cloud transformation journey.
Artificial Intelligence Cloud Technology Implementation (Required Course) – 4 weeks:
Included in the UBC Micro-certificate in Artificial Intelligence Cloud Solutions Strategy
Through hands-on activities and freely available resources, this course sets you up to design your own solutions with AI cloud services and to create an agile and robust framework for decision-making. Learn to classify a range of commercially available AI and ML services and identify relevant technology, theory and data helping you to assess and choose the right high-performance, low-cost infrastructure for your business applications.
The final two courses can be selected from one of following learning pathway options:
Learning Pathway Option 1:
Cybersecurity Fundamentals – 8 weeks:
Included in the future UBC Micro-certificate in Cybersecurity and Ethical Hacking planned for Spring 2024
Gain an understanding of core concepts, such as CIA triad (confidentiality, integrity and availability), risk management, threats, principle of least privilege, separation of duty and user experience in security. Learn about network best practices, security operations centres, network security and compliance, as well as OWASP Top 10 and secure software development. Delve into authentication and tools, and explore penetration testing, such as reconnaissance, initial access, execution, elevating access, persistence, defense evasion, collection and exfiltration. Test cloud security on popular cloud providers’ platforms and work with cloud misconfigurations and CSPM tools (cloud security posture management).
Ethical Hacking – 8 weeks:
Included in the future UBC Micro-certificate in Cybersecurity and Ethical Hacking planned for January 2024
Come away with a greater understanding of the ins and outs of ethical hacking, including footprinting and reconnaissance, scanning networks, vulnerability analysis and concepts around cryptography.
