Strength and resiliency, culture and tradition
Rooted in the core values of resiliency, culture and Indigenous perspectives, the UBC Certificate in Indigenous Health Administration and Leadership is designed to build and enhance your knowledge of community health administration. Learn to design, lead, and deliver holistic health and wellness programming with confidence in Indigenous organizations and communities.

Promote the health and wellness of Indigenous peoples
The program curriculum is centered on Indigenous approaches and traditional teachings, and is taught primarily by Indigenous instructors. You’re in a culturally safe and supportive learning environment that offers opportunities to build connections and lifelong relationships with your peers and instructors. The flexibility of the program format recognizes the importance of work/life balance, and allows you to juggle the program along with your work and family commitments.
- Format: Courses are either weekly virtual classes or 3-day in-person learning (held at UBC Vancouver campus).

The application deadline is Nov 19 this year to give applicants time to secure funding for the program. The vast majority of learners (90%) are generally able to secure funding for the program from their Nation or other Indigenous organizations.
IHALP enables students to gauge their interest in advanced courses like the Master of Health Administration (MHA) and plan in an informed way for their future.
Applications for IHALP 2026 will open in mid-July.
