The practicum component offers a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience and to apply knowledge and skills learned in class to the field. The practicum is intended for certificate-stream students who have successfully completed the required courses and have been given permission to register.
The goals of this practicum are two-fold:
- to better prepare students for specific projects;
- to help students develop essential skills for building relations, networking, and delivering professional standard work.
The practicum focuses on individualized learning and provides students with opportunities that may include business meetings, seminars, presentations, negotiations, website translation and job shadowing. During the practicum, students are supervised by their instructors who provide guidance, feedback and evaluations. The practicum placement consists of 50 hours of work and requires that students are flexible and are able to work under pressure to meet the employer's timeline.
Note: The dates for the practicum are fixed by the coordinator in consultation with the student. The practicum will start sometime between the dates listed below.
