Tourism Workshop 2: Strategic Cultural Tourism Planning

This workshop outlines the stages of a cultural tourism planning process – from conducting a complete situational analysis for identifying local opportunities to developing your destination’s cultural tourism vision, mission and goals based on credible research and a process of comprehensive data gathering and informed decision-making. Drawing from a variety of international examples, examine the components of a cultural tourism plan and learn the process of crafting an integrated, strategic cultural tourism plan for your community or organization to realize sustainable results.

At the end of this workshop, you will:

  • Understand the various stages and strategies for developing cultural tourism;
  • Identify the components of the cultural tourism planning process, how to articulate a destination’s priorities for cultural tourism, and strategies for implementation;
  • Explore good examples of these planning components and ways to strengthen or improve the application of these components in your community or organization.
