Spanish Translation Part 1

This course introduces you to the theory and the practice of translation. In this interactive online course you develop skills in translating authentic technical documents from diverse fields such as law, medicine, business, banking and industry. You expand your knowledge of cross-cultural interaction with an emphasis on the common problems of translation and gain skills in summarizing, note-taking, and sight translation. Designed to enhance bilingual fluency and cross-cultural communication skills, this course benefits students who want to expand their repertoire of professional terminology and gain practical skills for translation. 

Note: An advanced level of reading and writing in English and Spanish and the ability to type Spanish on a computer is required for this course.

This course can be applied to the UBC Award of Achievement Program in Spanish Translation.
