One Day at UBC: Understanding Blockchain Technology

You’ve heard the buzz about Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. But what about the technology that underpins these and many other useful applications? Through presentations, discussions and exercises, gain a broad, non-technical understanding of the core concepts, use cases and opportunities of blockchain technologies, and insights into how blockchain will affect and influence individuals, business and society.

CHRIS ROWELL, PhD, is a postdoctoral research and teaching fellow at the UBC Sauder School of Business. He received his doctorate in science in technology strategy and venturing from Aalto University in Helsinki. His research is in strategy and innovation, with a particular focus on blockchain and other new technologies that hold potential to fundamentally disrupt established ways of organizing our economy and society. Chris is following the emergence of the blockchain field in BC and beyond,, and is enthusiastic about how blockchain and related technologies can change the ways that we organize and interact, and the implications of this for business, government and society.
