This course is part of the UBC Future Global Leaders Online program for high school students ages 15–18.
Philosophy is the study of fundamental questions around knowledge and life, and gives you tools to think carefully and critically about almost any subject. In this course, learn about the major areas of philosophy. Reflect upon philosophical issues, and consider how philosophy is applied to contemporary questions such as how to design intelligent robots, the ethics of scientific and technological innovation, and how to evaluate government policies.
This is an ideal choice if you are interested in law, politics, journalism, administration, and any other profession that values informed reasoning, creative problem-solving and productive decision-making. No matter which subject you study, philosophy promises to enrich and enhance your future university experience.
This course is hosted on Canvas, a learning management system, and live lectures are delivered by Zoom. Three days before the start of your course, we’ll email you step-by-step instructions for accessing your course.
