The Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI) measures awareness and understanding of cultural differences, an increasingly important competence within Canadas diverse work environments. Developed by Mitch Hammer and based originally on Milton Bennetts Developmental Model of Intercultural Sensitivity, the IDI provides a valid, reliable tool for teams, organizations and individuals interested in understanding their current intercultural competence and potential areas for growth.
Completed online (30 minutes), the 50-item questionnaire is followed by an individual one-hour review session with a certified IDI administrator and intercultural specialist. A written IDI Profile Report is also included.
Team or group assessments to address organization-wide needs can be arranged by request. All inventory results and review sessions are confidential.
Note: Special pricing is available for students enrolled in the UBC Certificate in Intercultural Studies (CIS) Program. The IDI is included in the Leadership in Intercultural Contexts course.
*After registering, you will receive the online link to completing your assessment along with your password information. Once you have completed your assessment, please email us so that we may schedule your one hour follow up session. This session can take place at either the UBC Point Grey campus or UBC Robson Square.
The assessment is completed online and the one-hour private session with a certified IDI administrator and intercultural specialist is in person.
