Being Francophone - Advanced Discussion Through French Literature

In this course, you learn to bring out your unique self as a speaker of French.  Study a collection of short stories in French and enjoy participating in a high-level speaking environment.  This course is for speakers of French who might have already completed an advanced course or the UBC French Language and Culture Certificate who want further immersive practice in a content-based environment.  Professionals who speak French as a Second Language or French-immersion graduates are also excellent candidates for this course.  Participants challenge themselves to build communicative excellence in French through short dynamic readings and carefully led discussions while continuing to receive structural support for grammar points needing revision, but the focus is on living self-expression from a francophone perspective.  Learn how to explain what you think and feel with fluidity, confidence and passion.  Who are you “in French”?

This course takes a look at the literary tense passé simple and nourishes and diversifies vocabulary and diction in French.  Speakers will leave feeling more confident than ever in their ability to be themselves while speaking French.
