Withdrawal and Cancellation Policies
Part-time Language Courses
If you would like to withdraw from a course, please submit written notice at least three business days before the course begins to be eligible for a refund (less a $50 administration fee). An email is considered adequate written notification. No refund will be made for cancellations received later than three business days before the course begins. UBC Extended Learning is sometimes forced to cancel courses due to insufficient enrolment or other reasons. If this occurs, you will be contacted by email or by phone and a full refund provided.
For the one- to three-week language summer institutes and the one-week culinary arts and understanding wine programs, you must withdraw in writing at least one week before the beginning of the program. A $100 administration fee is deducted from each refund; no refunds are possible after the deadline.
Certificate and Award of Achievement Programs
Certificate programs and Awards of Achievement have special refund policies. The program application fees are non-refundable; however, if you would like to withdraw from a course, please see the policy above for part-time language courses.
Participants 65 and Over and UBC Students
Those 65 or older are eligible to receive a $25 discount on registration. Proof of age may be requested at time of registration. UBC Students also qualify for a $25 discount. A valid UBC student card must be provided upon registration. These discounts are not available through online registration. Please call 604.822.0800 to register.
Participants Registered in More than One Course in One Term
Select two courses in one term and receive a registration discount of $75. Only one discount can be applied. UBC employees using Staff Tuition Fee Benefit Waiver do not qualify for multiple course discounts, nor do students enrolled in certificate or award of achievement programs.
