Instructors for the UBC Certificate in Immigration: Laws, Policies and Procedures.

UBC Extended Learning has ongoing opportunities for instructors with qualifications in immigration laws, policies and procedures.

Online Instructors

UBC Extended Learning is currently recruiting for several part-time online instructor contract positions to teach the following courses in the UBC Certificate in Immigration, Laws, Policies and Procedures program:

  • Practical Skills (June 5-July 3, 2018 & August 28-September 23, 2018)


Instructors are responsible for creating an engaging online learning environment for learners, specifically by facilitating discussions (through discussion boards), responding to student questions (through discussion boards, email and weekly online office hours), inspiring inquiry, and marking assignments. Online Instructors are not expected to develop the curriculum or lesson plans. Syllabus and course content will be provided. 

  1. Member in good standing of a Canadian provincial bar association, or member in good standing of Immigration Consultants of Canada Regulatory Council (ICCRC).

  2. A minimum of five years of experience practicing Canadian immigration law, with in-depth knowledge of a specific immigration field that is relevant to the module.

  3. Teaching experience, particularly online teaching or facilitation experience. Demonstrated knowledge of adult education.

  4. Ability to provide timely and meaningful interaction with students appropriate to the online learning environment, as well as respond to student questions and concerns in a timely fashion.
