The Centre for Cultural Planning and Development provides online university-level training and education programs focused on building the organizational and leadership capacities necessary to advance cultural development as a vital component of success and sustainability. Students have the opportunity to learn from international leaders in their fields, and apply what they learn directly to their own communities and organizations. Students from around the world enroll in our online programs, which provide professional development opportunities to a range of public sector staff, planners and policymakers, arts administrators, community and economic development professionals, artists, cultural workers, and consultants engaged in progressive cultural development practices.
The Centre for Cultural Planning and Development strives to be a catalyst rather than an institution. Our mission is to support the development of culture in the broadest sense, recognizing, to quote the Council of Europe, that the diversity of cultures, the arts, and cultural and natural heritage are essential to the development of a genuine openness of mind and basic rights.
Don Black, Director
The Centre for Cultural Planning and Development offers certificate programs, courses, online workshops and public lectures in a wide range of areas, including: cultural policy and planning, museum management, arts administration, heritage and natural heritage, cultural tourism, creative placemaking and many more.
The Centre for Cultural Planning and Development is a legacy of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games and was made possible by a founding investment by 2010 Legacies Now and the Province of British Columbia.
