COVID-19 Coronavirus Update for UBC Future Global Leaders Students and Families

Dear UBC Future Global Leaders Students and Families,

As you know, governments and institutions around the world are grappling with the spread and impact of the COVID-19 outbreak. The situation continues to evolve and it has become an unprecedented situation for the University of British Columbia.

With the risk COVID-19 poses to students, staff and instructors, UBC Extended Learning has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 UBC Future Global Leaders program. Rest assured, you will be receiving a full refund, including your deposit of CAD$500.

As a result of these unprecedented events and developments, we are looking into offering a smaller pre-university program this summer for students who can live off-campus and commute. We are also developing an online university preparation course for high school students who are thinking about attending a Canadian university to be offered this summer.

More information about the online course and the pre-university program for commuters will be posted on the UBC Future Global Leaders website as it becomes available. If you haven’t already done so, please subscribe to our email list to stay informed about news and updates.

We understand you may be deeply disappointed, and we are also very disappointed. However, the health and well-being of students, staff and instructors are paramount to UBC and UBC Extended Learning.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the UBC Future Global Leaders team at +1 604 822 1444 Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:30pm Pacific Time, or by email at
