Waqar Ahmad Jan works for the Planning and Development Department of Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province in the capacity of Governance expert. His responsibilities include assessing the appropriateness of sectoral reforms agenda as per benchmarks of good governance. Waqar has a Master’s degree in Social Anthropology, a Career Development Practitioner Certificate from Douglas College and a Certificate in Intercultural Studies and International Development from UBC Extended Learning. He has over 20 years of work experience in both managerial and technical positions in the community development sector with a focus on community mobilization, participatory planning, socio-economic surveys in rural communities, governance and Environmental Rehabilitation with International Development Organisations.
Waqar immigrated to Canada in 2004 and continued his passion for working with people and transformed his expertise to work with new immigrants in settlement and integration process. He actively contributes to ethnic and religious groups in advocacy with regulatory and governmental bodies. His interests include applied social research methodologies and he specializes in issues related to immigrants, multiculturalism, intercultural understanding/communications and community development.
