Shelley Jones is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction at the State University of New York, College at Potsdam. She teaches courses in the Master of Science in Teaching (Childhood Education) Program, based in Ottawa. Shelley has over 16 years teaching experience at various levels (primary to tertiary) in diverse, international contexts, and has developed numerous graduate, undergraduate, and continuing education courses in the areas of education and international development, research, and English-language teaching, as well as curriculum for peace education and global education. She has established school outreach initiatives and community education programs, published several articles and presented at many international conferences. Her area of interest and research is concerned generally with education and development, and focused more specifically on the long-term impacts of secondary school education on the lives of young women in rural Uganda.
