Program Manager, Centre for Intercultural Communication
Marcelina Piotrowski, MA, is a program manager at UBC Extended Learning. Since 2008, she has been leading UBC educational projects and programs aimed at enhancing teaching and learning services, strategies and programs. Before joining UBC Extended Learning in 2013, she developed new services and led projects across multiple health professions programs in the UBC Faculty of Medicine. Many of these projects focused on implementing flexible and online learning services across British Columbia. Marcelina's strengths are in process facilitation, strategic planning across multiple programs and organizations, and program development, from needs analysis through to evaluation.
Marcelina is currently completing her doctoral studies in the Faculty of Education at UBC. She teaches and conducts research on environmental and political education, media and environmental movements, and post-qualitative and non-representational methodologies. She is an active member in the Canadian Communication Association, Canadian Society for the Study of Education, and the American Educational Research Association. She is also a Liu Scholar in the Liu Institute for Global Issues. Marcelina holds a master’s in communication and culture from York University in Toronto.
Marcelina draws on her passion for teaching and educational research in her role as program manager, where she leads program planning, curriculum design, and the delivery and assessment of blended and fully online certificate programs.
