Gregor develops strategic initiatives to improve university education by building on research, new technologies, market advances, and alliances.
In addition to his role at UBC Extended Learning, Gregor serves as Senior Advisor, Digital Learning Strategy for UBC, and is a Professor in the Computer Science Department.
He developed and continues to teach UBC’s popular first-semester computer science course in software design, and developed online courses for UBCx on edX, a platform for massive open online courses.
Gregor began his work on technology-supported learning in 1980, working in the Logo Lab at MIT. In 1984, he began working at the Xerox Palo Alto Research Center on model-supported learning environments.
In 2000, Gregor joined UBC as a professor in the Computer Science Department, where his research focused on programming language design. Since arriving at UBC, he has won numerous teaching and research awards.
